Associate Criteria

OPA Europe Associate status is available to vendors and organizations that support the online publishing industry but are not, themselves, publishers.

Associate non-Member Partners will provide information, develop innovative solutions for distributing information or market services that would be likely to enrich, support, accompany or facilitate, directly or indirectly, the action of the Association. In any event, Partners may not and shall not in any case be assimilated or confused with full members of the Association, and the payment of any contribution to the Association shall not be characterized as membership dues.

  1. OPA Europe Associates must endorse the publishing principles espoused by the OPA Europe.
  2. The applying organization must provide products or services that support the businesses of OPA Europe members. Specifically, OPA Europe members must use or contemplate using the types of products or services offered by the applicant as part of their normal business operations.
  3. The OPA Europe requires that all associate applicants be nominated and seconded by current OPA Europe members following submission of their application.
  4. The applying organization must not use any marketing or promotional techniques that in OPA’s Europe view are likely to confuse or mislead consumers.

Publishing Principles

Members of OPA Europe ascribe to the highest standards in Internet publishing with respect to editorial quality and integrity, credibility and accountability. Members of OPA Europe support publishing principles that reflect the traditional values separating editorial and commercial messages - never using advertising content as editorial, never creating editorial content for an advertiser without clearly labeling such content as advertising ; also clearly labeling any advertising, advertorial or promotional content as such ; and always clearly labeling the source of content - thereby enhancing the credibility and public trust necessary to support a free press.
